The Three a Winning
No one works in a silo. Whether you’re
the superintendent or the newest member of the groundskeeping team, everything you do has a ripple effect. So, how do you capitalize on that ripple effect? How do you ensure what’s going out to the rest of your team is a positive, motivating wave, helping them and the entire golf course to thrive?
It’s not an easy task. Superinten- dents have enough on their plates with the daily management of their teams, let alone considering how their team might affect, say, the food and beverage folks or the pro shop.
Then there’s the dynamics inside the grounds team to consider. Odds are you don’t have a team where everybody is best friends, and that’s okay. Differing personalities often mean new ideas and alternative approaches to solving problems. The trick is managing not only the larger team but also the individ- uals within it, so everyone is moving forward, doing their best work and giving their best effort for the better- ment of the club.
