John McLinden, AGS, CGSA President (right) thanked host Superintendent, Matthew Blackburn, CGSA Atlantic Director and AGSA President and con- gratulated him on the outstanding course conditions and for his assistance hosting the event.
Thank you to all the golfers, suppliers and Chester Golf Club for making the
inaugural Summer Shamble a huge success. Golfers started the experience with a welcome reception at the clubhouse on Monday, followed by the breakfast sponsored by Toro. Attendees then headed out for a unique educational opportunity to walk the course with Architect Jeff Mingay, where he shared some thoughts on potential improvements of the golf course.
Following the lunch, golfers started their experience golfing on the Atlantic and enjoying some of the east coast “mist” with outstanding playing conditions. The shamble format consisting of two person teams with each teeing off choosing the best shot and playing their own ball from there.
In typical east coast tradition, golf was followed by the Toro kitchen party where attendees were treated to a feast of steak and lobster. You cannot have a kitchen party without that amazing menu. An evening attendees will not soon forget, thanks to the perfect menu with the fiddle music provided by the Atlantic Golf Superintendents Association (AGSA). Attendees were treated to music of fiddlers Ben Rutz and Michael Lloyd, something that will be remembered!
