2020 Canadian Golf Season Review
And that’s a wrap....except for BC! The NGCOA Canada is the only organization in Canada that reports on Rounds Played, Weather and Revenue from courses across the country. These are monthly reports and because of the seasonality of our business the Nation- al reports capture data from April to October, with the exception of British Columbia, where the reporting is year-round.
The data comes directly from the golf courses and is seg- mented by region which becomes a very powerful tool for par- ticipating facilities. Similar to the STAR Report used by hotels to track their performance next to their competitive set, the NGCOA Canada Research Reports help participating golf courses define their success by comparing their monthly data with the aggregat- ed data of their competitive set. Participating facilities now have a benchmark beyond their own performance the previous year.
Below are the 2020 National and Provincial Year-in- Review Research Reports. 2020 showed impressive growth over 2019 and compared to the 5-year average in rounds and revenue. However, we do recognize that it was a very tough year for courses and although rounds increased at many courses, F&B and events were significantly affected.
The NGCOA Canada Research Reports are important business tools for all golf facilities across Canada. Members are participating and utilizing these reports more than ever. Thank you to all participating members for your efforts! Your Rounds Played and Weather Report information and data requests will be delivered to your inbox the first week of each month during the golf season, or you can view them online at www.ngcoa.ca.

REVENUE TRACKER REPORT
 2020 % OVER 2019
Golf courses experienced corresponding increases in revenues in 2020 with national revenues up by 28% over the 2019 season. In addition to the exceptional growth in Rounds Played, non-cash payments are a major contributing factor to this increase.
Alberta, the Prairies, Ontario and Québec outpaced the national revenue growth ranging from an impressive 47.1% to 32.9%. Atlantic Canada was the only region to post a decline in revenues over 2019, most likely due to the effect of COVID-19 on tourist rounds as described in the rounds report on the following page.
