As winter arrives, I hope that all of
you have had a successful course
closure and that the weather is
cooperating as much as possible.
Winter typically offers an
opportunity to reflect on the past
golf season and review what went
well and what could be improved. It
is also a great time to prepare for
education and networking oppor-
tunities that winter brings.
CELEBRATING 60 YEARS
OF THE CGSA
The CGSA’s conference committee
is working hard to put together a
great program for the upcoming
“Canadian” in Calgary. At the
Canadian Golf Course Management
Conference (CGCMC) this year, the
CGSA is also celebrating its 60th
anniversary which will add a special
touch to an already outstanding
event.
Over the past 6 decades, many
staff and Board members have been
instrumental in developing the
association as well as increasing the
profile of Golf Course Superinten-
dents in Canada. The conference
will be a great opportunity to look
back on the past successful 60
years but also focus on what the
future will bring.
From the
season’s
end to new
beginnings
As mentioned, the Conference
Committee, chaired by Cameron
Kusiek, has worked very hard to put
together a great lineup of speakers
and networking events. Save the
dates—February 24th to 26th, 2026—
and plan to be part of this outstanding
gathering.
TIME TO INVEST IN YOU
Following a busy golf season, winter
offers a welcome chance to unwind
and reconnect with family and
friends. I hope you are all able to
recharge your batteries as well and
spend time with people and/or do
activities outside of golf.
I haven’t always been as
intentional as I would have liked to
be, in investing in personal
relationships and activities (hobbies).
My goal is to engage more with my
family, social circles, and recreational
outlets to help me feel refreshed
when the golf season inevitably rolls
around again in spring.
During the winter aka the renewal
season, I wish you all the best and
look forward to meeting and catching
up with as many colleagues as
possible. GM
