A SEASON OF GROWTH
FALL FIELD DAY DELIVERS
The calendar just turned to autumn, and
we have wrapped up a successful Fall
Field Day in Quebec. Nearly all provinces
gathered to enjoy each others company
while being treated to excellent
conditions at both Islesmere and Laval
sur le Lac.
Special congratulations to host
superintendents; Don Gordon and Luc
Ladouceur respectively for putting in
the effort and work to prepare for the
Fall Field Day events. Attendees were
certainly treated to two outstanding
courses. A sincere thank you to all
sponsors and both host clubs.
EXPLORING SUSTAINABILITY
WITH GEO
Before the Field Day, attendees joined
an educational session with GEO
Foundation, Executive Director,
Jonathan Smith, who provided an
overview of the GEO program and
guidance on starting your own journey
toward environmentally sustainable golf
course management. For more
information, please visit https://
sustainable.golf/highlights.
CGSA’S NEXT STEPS
During our time in Laval, the CGSA
Board of Directors met and discussed
association business, activities and
initiatives. As a result of the work of our
committees, we’re excited to roll out
several new initiatives designed to
support your professional growth and
elevate CGSA’s overall impact.
One of those initiatives is provincial
Best Management Practices. After a
review of several proposals, it was
determined that we could align well with
GEO to prepare these documents and
implement into an electronic platform.
The initial draft of the very first document
is well underway with the hopes to have it
ready in the new year.
CALGARY WELCOMES THE CGCMC
Looking ahead, the upcoming national
conference, The Canadian Golf Course
Management Conference promises to be
a highlight of the year and a kick-off to
the 60th anniversary of the CGSA. The
conference committee has been working
to schedule a dynamic lineup of speakers,
and excellent networking opportunities.
We invite you to make the trip to Calgary
and enjoy all that the event will offer,
explore the city and be a part of CGSA’s
history.
STRENGTHENING OUR TEAM
I’m pleased to welcome and introduce
Karen Collins to the membership. Karen
started working with the national office
staff back in August and has been busy
learning about CGSA programs and
systems. Her primary role will see her
interacting with members as a
Membership and Events Coordinator.
Thank you for your continued
dedication. As always, please feel free to
reach out and share any feedback or ideas.
Respectfully,
Kathryn Wood, CMP
