Shuttle Service
Brittany Nigh, White Squirrel Golf Club, ON brittany@whitesquirrelgolfclub.com
White Squirrel Golf Club is an 18-hole, semi-private course on the shores of Lake Huron, an hour northwest of London, Ontario. Like many operators across Canada, our golf course is in a rural area. Access to taxis and public transportation is not available, and after a few drinks, our guests were hesitant to stay on our patio to enjoy our food and beverage offerings. To solve this problem, we purchased a shuttle with seating for up to 14 passengers, to safely transport guests to and from the golf course.
Our shuttle service has been a fantastic offering to our guests, especially those visiting our area on bachelor/bachelorette trips, weekends away, family or corporate events. Our regular league players have also booked it for the 20 weeks of their season, so that they never worry about who is taking their turn driving. The shuttle completes the package to a full day experience of golf, dining, and entertainment. We believe this makes us the golf destination of choice over our competitors.
Guests who utilize our shuttle service have an incremental food and beverage spend that is three times that of our regular greens fee player. The shuttle has a per person fee based on mileage, generating its own revenue and is all booked and paid for in advance. Shuttle booking is managed through our proshop, so that shuttles, tee-times, and dinner reservations can all be coordinated together.
Our relationship with our liquor inspector has never been better as we now have peace of mind that our guests who enjoy some beverages have a safe ride home. With thousands of users this season, the shuttle is its own profitable revenue stream and we are looking to expand our fleet in the future.
