RESEARCh REPORT
ROUNDS PLAYED & WEAThER REPORTING
PRESENTED BY
Weather appeared to be one of the biggest factors with respect to Rounds Played across the country in 2016.
With the return of more historical weather averages in 2016 in British Columbia over 2015, rounds played for this past season showed a slight decline of 2.66% over the previous year. Alberta had a record early start to the season, but similar to the Prairies, it quickly slowed down by June with below average rated weather through to October. However, these 4 provinces still posted increases when compared to the 3 year average ( 2014-2016).
Consistent with how Ontario operators posted the Weather Score (slightly above average), rounds played in Ontario were up by 1.26% in 2016 over the 2015 season and up 3.20% when comparing to the 3 year average.
Quebec also benefitted from an early start that continued throughout the season resulting in an increase in rounds played of 6.90% in 2016 over 2015 and 6.59% when compared to the 3 year average. This was bested only by the Atlantic Provinces which also experienced an increase in rounds played over 2015 of 9.21%.
