This past season we made significant changes to our Tuesday Night Ladies League program aimed at providing our league ladies a guaranteed night out each week, even if the weather didn’t cooperate for golf.
By Sunday night, the ladies needed to register and submit payment for the following Tuesday. When the weather was good, the ladies received a tailgate kick off each week that included either food, alcohol or a gift. Their payment provided them with 9 holes of golf with power cart and prize opportunities. If the weather was not good, instead of golf, we provided dinner, a drink, prizes and a 9-hole rain check to come back to play on another (non Ladies League) night.
By doing all of this, we were able to drive revenues on nights where we traditionally would not have had any customers due to poor weather. This past year our overall Ladies League rounds played numbers increased by 21% and revenues increased by nearly $10,000.

We created a commemorative poker chip ball marker with “Birdie Club Hole #1”, etc. Each hole was a different coloured poker chip. Each time golfers made a birdie, they would inform the marshal, pro shop, player host, etc. and receive a poker chip.
The goal was to collect all 18 chips! We also have an Eagle Club, Sand Save, Personal Best, and Shot of the Day poker chip. We gave away 2000 chips this past season with a cost of $0.60 each. So for $1200 marketing expense we were able to touch those golfers plus word of mouth advertising to family and friends.
Wild Wednesdays

In an effort to determine what coupons were most valued by our customers, we launched Wild Wednesdays. Each spring from opening until May long weekend we will accept any coupon on Wednesday from any golf club and any golf publication.
We figured out which coupons were most popular, had employee and guest engagement, and got some of our competitor’s coupons off the market. Due to the success of this program, we have continued it for the past three springs!
Last fall, our Chef of 10 years decided to move on from the club to operate her own diner. We were fortunate to have twenty qualified applicants which we short listed down to four who were asked back for a second interview in which they performed in a “Top Chef” type competition.
Each of the candidates was scheduled to come back at a separate time and with a $100 budget they needed to purchase ingredients to prepare a four-course dinner for 4 hiring committee members.
The process gave the hiring committee valuable insight to each candidate’s ability to perform under pressure;
as well as their attitude, communication skills, confidence levels, budgeting skills, and most importantly the
quality and presentation of the meals was revealed. Golf Business
