Delegates of the 2014 Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show were challenged to find their course’s Missing Link at The Missing Link Idea Session Game Show. Armed with their best ideas from this past season, each group of delegates chose their best idea and presented it on stage to the panel of “esteemed” judges.
Presented by Kubota Canada, the Missing Link Idea Session is one of the most highly regarded and beneficial components of the annual Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show.
The 1st place winner was given an opportunity to choose the Kubota tractor, mower or utility vehicle of their choice. The selected Kubota vehicle will be delivered to the winning club, and will be theirs for one full season. Kubota also provided the top four winners with generous gift baskets.
The top ideas will be presented in upcoming issues of Golf Business Canada magazine.

At Ainsdale Golf Club, we needed to find a way to attract female golfers with little or no golf experience to join our weekly Ladies League. We wanted them to participate and learn while still maintaining the needed pace of play.
So, we decided to add a new Flight called the “Fun” Flight. The Ladies would play weekly only in groups of three and a special set of tee blocks would be placed on the fairway. In the Pro Shop, we call these the Princess Tees. These tee blocks are placed forward at the distance of a good ladies drive from “A” Flight.
Weekly prizes for this Flight are the same as the other Flights, such as the long drive or closest to the pin in two. One of the prizes is a weekly draw as well. Their score is not counted for a prize.
Monthly, we have the Ladies play a Scramble. Everyone wants to have a Fun Flight player on their team. It is quite an advantage to hit the second shot from the “Fun” player’s drive and the Fun Flight Player gets to contribute. The monthly scramble also encourages the Ladies from different flights to mix with each other. Some of the Fun Flight Ladies progress and move into a handicapped flight while some are happy to stay where they can focus on the fun.
Our Ladies League has become very popular for all level of golfers and the golden blocks (Princess Tees) have been a huge success. With a yearly membership of over 90 Ladies we now have seven Flights including the Fun Flight.
We have experienced such good results that we are now planning on putting these tee blocks out for our Junior Day Clinics and our monthly Adult/Junior Event starting this season.
