6.2.3 Design Example
6.2.3.1 In-line Static Mixer
Eq. (6.1) is applied for seawater desalination plant with a fresh water production capacity of 50,000 m3/day [13.2 million gallons per day (MGD)] and intake flow of 127,910 m3/day (33.8 MGD 1⁄4 28,190 gpm), a 30-in. diameter mixer with a length of 5.0 ft, and Dp of 0.5 psi, and the G T 1⁄4 (1212 30-in.)/[(0.5 psi 5 ft 12 in.)/23,472 gpm]0.5 1⁄4 1300. The opti- mum G T mixing range is usually between 500 and 1600.
