NRMC Receives 4 Stars
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released Star Ratings for hospitals, and NRMC is pleased
to announce it has received 4 stars.
CMS uses the Star Rating system to
provide quality measure information
to the public about the care delivered in hospitals nationwide. The highest ranking a hospital can achieve is 5 stars.
The information includes hospital performance data on a wide range of topics and focuses on whether or not a hospital provides recommended care based on guidelines and standards
of care. CMS provides the ratings as a
means for consumers to compare the
performance of hospitals with other
hospitals in their region, state and across
the country. The purpose of the rating system is to compare hospitals on a consistent set of measures.

CMS Star Ratings focus on outcome measures which take a close look at the results of care. Patient experience of care is
also included as part of the measurement. Using a standardized survey of patients called the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Provider
and Systems (HCAHPS), CMS collects data about patient experiences during inpatient stays. Other areas included looking at imaging efficiency patterns, ED throughput, care transition and coordination, and patient safety.
“Every Associate is trained to serve as a patient advocate to help ensure an excellent patient experience,” explained Kirk Soileau, Chief Executive Officer. “We look at virtually every detail of the patient experience from the time patients enter our hospital as an inpatient to the moment
they are discharged. We want the best possible outcome for each patient, and if we see something we can improve, we do. I am proud of our team on this 4 Star Rating.”
Congratulations to the following individuals on being the recipients of our highest Associate recognitions.
“At NRMC, we set high standards for the care we provide our community. As a team, we strive to consistently improve, because we want the best for our patients. Receiving 4 stars reflects our commitment to patient care, and is an affirmation of the work we are doing,”
