from the president 3 On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to welcome you to a very special season of our Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra. This season we will embark on the selection of a new music director who will continue the tradition of excellence that our orchestra has established. It is this excellence that led to the submittal of 194 applications for the position of music director. Special thanks go to Jon Krapfl and the search committee, who spent seven thousand hours reviewing applications. The committee, comprised of representatives from the board, orchestra and community, narrowed the list of applicants to the five “best of the best” candidates. Each will conduct a concert in the upcoming season, bringing to Williamsburg their exceptional musicianship and conducting skills, along with, the highest level of artistry, vision, versatility, innovation and passion for music. You, our patrons, will participate in the selection of our next music director. Following each concert, you will have an opportunity to meet the guest conductor and submit your feedback to us. Your feedback, along with that of the search committee and the board, will guide selection of our next music director. For this special season, each Masterworks concert will be performed on a single evening at the Williamsburg Community Chapel. Each concert will feature a guest artist. And, we can all look forward to the very popular Holiday Pops at the Kimball Theatre, and Cabaret & Cocktails at the Williamsburg Lodge. Thank you for being part of our music family and for supporting our talented musicians. We look forward to seeing you when the season kicks off in September, 2019. May the beauty of music inspire and renew your spirt! Join us and “Share the Passion for Music.” Warmest Regards, Ron Monark, President–The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra the wso is grateful to the following arts commissions for their generous support
