UNIFIED SPORTS® RULES:
There are few differences in the rules for Unified Sports® competition as stipulated in the
Official Special Olympics Sports Rules Book and modifications outlined in the rules book.
The additions are highlighted below:
A roster consists of a proportionate number of athletes and partners.
An Athlete is a person with intellectual disabilities.
A Unified Partner is a person without intellectual disabilities.
Teams are division for competition based primarily on ability.
Team sports must have an adult, non-playing coach. Player-coaches are not allowed in
team sports.
COURT DIMENSIONS AND EQUIPMENT:
COURT DIMENSIONS:
The recommended playing area shall be a maximum of 40 meters x 20 meters and a minimum
of 24 meters x 12 meters (basketball court dimensions), on a level surface properly marked for
Floor Ball.
FLOOR BALL EQUIPMENT:
All must be uniform thickness over the entire length and must be rounded-off at the end.
Protective Equipment: Goalkeeper must wear a helmet with a face mask, shin guards, and
protective gloves. All other players are required to wear helmets with face masks or shields
that cover the entire face, shin guards and protective gloves to ensure safety. Proper athletic
