COURT DIMENSIONS:
BADMINTON EQUIPMENT
Rackets
Rackets are made from a variety of materials such as boron, carbon, graphite, and metal,
and contain strings made of durable nylon.
Most rackets are very light and weigh between 3.5 and 4.2 ounces.
Athletes should select a racket that has a grip size that feels good in their hand and a
weight that is conformable for them.
Grip Equipment
Grip wraps can be made of leather, terry cloth, rubber, or foam to help maintain control of
the racket while playing.
Shuttles (Birds)
Plastic, nylon, and feather are three types of shuttlecocks, shuttles, or birds used in
Badminton.
Nylon shuttles are recommended for both practice and competition for durability, economic,
and performance reasons.
