PART 4: TEACHING PROGRAMME Unit Structure and Teaching Approach
The main objective of this teaching programme is to develop my students’ English communicative skills as well as help them develop their own individual and academic capacities as well as encourage their social and cross-cultural skills. One of the essential skills that humans have is that of “communication”. As normally children have their first contact with English language and the English speaking world at school, it is very important that the learning of a foreign language is carried out in a enjoyable and socialising context so children learn the language in a natural and more enriching way.
The methodology used is topic-based and set in the context of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEF) as the foundation of the development of communicative competence, in relation to the age and capacities of the language learners as they acquire language to communicate within a specific context. I have taken into account an integrated approach to teaching the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, also giving especial importance to speaking interactions, as required by the LOMCE.
The units in my teaching programme follow a step by step teaching/learning structure which is the core of my English teaching methodology. As they make progress throughout the course, students become familiar with the organisation and sequencing of the units, which will give them confidence in the learning method and a sense of purpose for the different activities included in each unit.
This teaching programme will allow the student at this level to begin to acquire the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in normal communicative situations through specific tasks, acquiring communicative skills with the intention of producing
