consisted of nursing students and faculty doing blood pressure
screenings. Hearing screenings were also provided by the Center
for Hearing and Communication.
Additionally, Ms. Kelly Welch, Executive Director of Team
Maureen (from Boston, MA) was present with a table to promote
HPV awareness and its link to oral cancer. She had about 100
educational toolkits to distribute to any interested dental profes-
sional. NYSAGD also provided additional educational material.
The event was promoted to GNYDM attendees via program
guides and email blasts from SDDS, NYCDS, and NYSAGD. Dr.
Robert Edwab contacted Javits’ employees and there was signage
at the exhibit floor entrances advertising the event.
Approximately 70 patients received dental screenings and about
80 patients were screened at the vision station.

Outreach Department, NYU and Colgate. AdDent loaned three of Drs. Kay Oen, Jennifer Sylvia and Brian Ciporin.

Drs. Edwab and Gainor worked on a screening form in both
English and Spanish, as well as an oral cancer referral form for

Through the NYSAGD journal, we wish to recognize everyone
who participated in this screening program. On behalf of the
NYSAGD board, we wish to extend our gratitude to Dr. Gainor
for taking the initiative on this screening, along with his tireless
efforts to organize and to promote it, and most of all, his invita-
tion to collaborate with him and GNYDM on this very meaning-
ful and significant event. Additional thanks to Mrs. Tisha Gainor,
Dr. Robert Edwab, and the GNYDM committee.
We would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Sylvia, Mrs. Paula Bostick,
and Dr. James Keenan for supervising the caries and oral cancer
screening stations, Dr. Lorna Flamer-Caldera for supervising the
hygiene students, and Dr. Susan Young for supervising the vision
station.
