U12s - Rachel Love
The 2019-2020 season saw the Selby RUFC under 12’s being introduced to several new skills these included : teams increased to 12 players, introduction of the hand-off, unrestricted rucks and mauls and a 5 man scrum. The squad now comprises of 25 players and there were two newcomers in Robbie Coulthard and Billy Tipping. The season started with a few weeks of Sunday morning sessions in training where the boys learned the new techniques. The first fixtures were away to Doncaster and Scunthorpe and then at home to Ripon and Driffield and Yarnbury away. Then Rochdale and Sandal at home. Much of the winter season was missed due to poor weather but the team tour to Manchester in March saw the Selby side dominate and impress and play with great sportmanship. The final game of the season (ended early due to the threat of the Corona virus), was on 15th March 2020 at Doncaster and also playing Thorne. Where the lads continued to shine and play and win. Players that were particularly impressive this season were Connor Dale, Harry Kealey, Frankie Watson and Ben Cockeram. Players showing good improvement were Leon Partington, Will Kavanagh and Zak Kierans. The under 12’s now wait to be under 13’s and look forward to the 2020-2021 season.

A memorable season for all of the wrong reasons, games cancelled after horrendous weath-
er, the season terminated when Corona virus hit, no festival or presentation day.
Out of the 35 week season which was terminated after week 29, 5 matches were lost be- cause of the weather/pitches, 2 lost to Xmas/NY break leaving a season of 22 weekends. We trained for 10, with 6 games both home & away.

Throughout the season we had 37 players in all, Harrison E was the first casualty with kidney problems, Harrison T moved away just before Xmas, Jacob T took a break in the latter weeks following the arrival of his new sibling & Adam K decided to take a long break.
Alfie C started with us just after xmas & Freddy W started only a couple of weeks ago.
9 players made 19 or more appearances: Alex B, Alex C, Billy H, Ollie K, Bobby M, Reece R, Jack S, Reuben W & Evie WT ( our only girl), one of these made 21 appearances who will receive their award when presentations are next made.
Another 14 players made more than 15 appearances: Dylan B, Rhys B, James C, Edward D, Jack J, Edward L, Isaac M, Elijah McH, Devon O, Jack & Noah P, Joseph P, Theo W & Sam W.
Thanks to all other players not already mentioned: Harry D, Elliot G, Joshua H, Noah K, Eoin S, Seb W & Billy W.
Finally, thanks to our coaches for their hard work & commitment & not forgetting parents for their support.
