EDUCATION
Van Buren School District
Voted Best of River Valley’s “Top Public
School System” for two years running,
the Van Buren School District (VBSD) is
recognized as a leader in academics, arts,
and athletics, and for providing its nearly
6,000 students with a top-tier educational
experience at every level.
VBSD is comprised of six elementary
schools (grades K-5), two middle schools
(grades 6-8), a freshman academy (grade
9), and one high school (grades 10-12).
The District also provides preschool,
Gifted and Talented Education, special
education, and an alternative education
program. Additionally, the District
operates the River Valley Virtual Academy
(RVVA).
Van Buren’s high-quality curriculum
includes STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Math) education for
all grades, as well as arts, agriculture,
and diverse course options. Teachers
integrate hands-on learning through
gardening, technology, entrepreneurship,
and workforce training. The District
offers a wealth of Advanced Placement
and concurrent credit classes. Through
strategic partnerships with regional
universities, VBSD enables secondary
students to earn college hours, complete Van Buren elementary students utilize a campus walking trail. In recent years, VBSD
