soldiers had gone, Rahab made the spies promise that when the city was taken they would spare her and her relatives. She, in turn, agreed to display a scarlet cord in her window as a sign to Josue that the city was ready to fall. She then let the spies down from the window by means of a rope and they ed to the moun­ tains, where they stayed for three days. Then they crossed the Jordan and rejoined Josue.
