to arrest them, she hid them on the roof of her house, under some stalks of ax that were spread out to dry. The king's soldiers sought them in vain. When the
soldiers had gone, Rahab made the spies promise that when the city was taken they would spare her and her relatives. She, in turn, agreed to display a scarlet cord in her window as a sign to Josue that the city was ready to fall. She then let the spies down from the window by means of a rope and they ed to the mounĀ tains, where they stayed for three days. Then they crossed the Jordan and rejoined Josue. The spies reported to Josue that there would be no trouble in conquering the city, because the people were overcome by fear even at the thought of the attac
