The next day Heli asked Samuel what the Lord had said to him. Samuel told him all the words of the voice
from Heaven and did not hide anything.
When Samuel grew to manhood, the Lord's words
to him were ful lled. The Philistines gained more ofHell
and more of the land of the Israelites. In despair, the Israelites sent to Silo for the Ark of the Covenant. They hoped that by carrying the Ark into battle with them they might win the victory. The Ark was brought to them, and the two sons of Heli went with it. The shouts of the soldiers, when they saw the Ark, frightened the Philistines for a time. But they soon
