THE JOURNEYS OF THE ARK AMONG THE PHILISTINES
recovered from their fright and, attacking the Israel­ ites, they defeated them again. The two sons of Heli were slain in this battle and the Ark of the Covenant was captured by-the Philistines. This news was brought to Heli, now old and blind. When he heard it, he fell from his chair, and died. The two sons were killed for their crimes and the father died in punish­ ment for his failure to correct them.
