Booz BEHOLDS RUTH GLEANING IN HIS FIEL
the eld, to glean among the ears of grain after him in whose eyes I shall nd favor." Noemi answered, "Go, my daughter."
The Law of Moses forbade the owner to go over his eld a second time, and commanded that the grain which was left on the ground should be left for the poor. Ruth followed the reapers of Boaz and gathered the grain that they had left behind. She gleaned in the eld until evening, and then beat out what she had gleaned and made it into our. This she took to Noemi.
Booz came into the eld, and when he saw Ruth, he said to the servants, "To whom does this young woman belong f" They answered, "She is a Moabite woman who came back with Noemi from the land of Moah.
