upon it. When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell upon his sword and died.
When the battle was over, the Philistines found the bodies of Saul and his sons lying on Mount Gelboe. They cut o  Saul's head and stripped him of his armor, and sent word to all the people that Saul had been slain. They put the armor of the king in the temple of Astarte and hung his body and the bodies of his sons on the wall of Bethsan.
When the Israelites who lived at Jabes Galaad heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, they chose a band of brave men, who came by night and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethsan and buried them in the woods near Jabes. Then they fasted for seven days.
