tains to help the servants of King Hiram. They worked in shifts. Every shift worked one month and rested two months.
Many men were employed in carr ng the materials from Joppe to Jerusalem. Others labored in the quar­ ries of Solomon's country.
The building of the Temple was begun in the fourth year of Solomon's reign. It took more than seven years to build it. During its erection there was no noise of hammer, for every beam and stone was care­ fu y cut and  tted beforehand. In general, the Tem­ ple followed the design of the Tabernacle, and, like it,
