even after his death. One day a funeral procession was passing near the tomb of Eliseus, when the funeral party met a band of robbers. In their fright they laid the body of the dead man in the grave of Eliseus and ed. As soon as the corpse touched the body of Eliseus, it was restored to life.
3. JOB G1vEs GLORY TO Gon AMONG THE EnoMITES
The Edomites were descendants of Esau. Their J ,a country bordered on the southern shore of the Dead =te Sea. There. lived in their midst a holy man named
Job was very wealthy. He lived in a house built of stone. He had seven sons and three daughters, and many servants to wait upon him. He owned seven thousand sheep, thre thousand camels, ve hundred yoke of oxen and ve hundred asses.
On a certain day when the angels came to stand before God, Satan was present among them.
The Lord said to Satan, "Hast thou considered My servant Job1 There is none like him in the earth. He is a simple and upright man. He feareth God and avoideth evil.''
Satan, answering God, said, "It is easy for Job to
· fear God. · Thou hast given him abundance of every thing. Thou hast blessed the work of his hands. Thou hast increased his possessions on earth. But touch all that he has, and he ll not bless Thee.''
Then the Lord said to Satan, ''Behold, I give thee power over all that he has. Do as thou likest with it. But do not touch his person.''
