Meanwhile, someone had told Annas and Caiphas what Pilate had written on the title over the cross of Jesus. Immediately, they went to him and said, "Write not, The King of the Jews, but that He said, I   King of the Jews.'' But Pilate answered, ''Wh  I have written, I have written."

If they attempted to divide this, they would destroy it. They said, then, one to another, "Let us not cut it, but let us cast lots for it, in order to  nd out whose it shall be."
Thus were ful lled the words of the Psalmist, who wrote, ''They have parted My garments among them, and upon My vesture they have cast lots.''
