In accordance with the command of our bless  Savior, the apostles now went forth into the whole world to preach the Gospel. As our Savior had promised them, they had the power to work miracles. The number of those who believed in their preaching
grew constantly. At  rst they preached to the Jews, but later they went forth to the Gentile nations and they made great numbers of converts. They ordained priests to assist them in their ministry; they conse­ crated bishops who would be their successors and carry on the work of the Church after their death. Thus it was that the Church of Christ began its mis­ sion here upon earth. Like the mustard seed of which our Savior spoke, it grew from small beginnings un 
it became the great institution which today continues to spread throughout the world, preaching the Gospel to every creature.
