EXPERIENCES:
1. Clinical research and clinical trials:
In the molecular imaging center in CGMH, I have had good chances to participate in some pioneered translational researches regarding the latest PET/MRI imaging modality combined with novel radiopharmaceuticals and their application in neurology and oncology. I teamed up with computer scientist to develop an open source software, CGITA (https://github.com/mridulafmach/cgita), which analyzes medical image texture features from oncology patients to predict their outcome. In addition, I am also a co-principal investigator in several clinical trials ranging from radiation protection for patients receiving radioiodine therapy, new positron emission tracer for glioblastoma multiforme and a comparative study between traditional radiotherapy and proton therapy for their post- irradiation response to pediatric brain tumor.
2. Personalized I-131 Therapeutic e-Center for Thyroid Cancer:
Thyroid cancer patients who receive radioiodine therapy have to be isolated for a few days to protect their family and friends from radiation. By cooperating with Quanta, Inc., to digitalize the service, we developed a ward that could be viewed online 360 degrees like Google’s street view before patients’ admission, distant ward round system and corresponding mobile app for physicians, patients’ family and nurses.
