Phulong Secondary School is an 8th to 12th grade school located in

Kwa-Thema, Springs. It is a single store public school situated in the

heart of the township, serving learners from a variety of ethnic and racial

backgrounds. The learners’ population is very diverse ranging from

family members who have lived in Kwa Thema for many generations to

those who have recently moved into the area. There are only black

learners in the school. The school is surrounded by a community that

has a low rate of drug users, crime and working-class families. There are

no ramps in the school as the school does not cater for learners with

physical barriers.

There are enough desks and chairs for all the learners arranged in a

manner that caters for different kinds of classroom activities and group
