The day after we we rolled out the rst issue
of Connection
and and took a a a a a a a a a a minute to to exhale we we did what every good Agile team does and and held a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a retrospective Looking back I’m not going to sugar coat it it creating that rst issue
was hard! Way harder than I I ever ever thought it it would be We learned countless lessons lessons about the the the process and and the the the technical aspects of of of putting together a a a a a a a a a a a magazine and and every one of of of those lessons lessons was borne` out of of our mistakes For example did you you you know that that if you you you are printing a a a a a a a a a a a a magazine that that is is saddle stitched you you you need to to have a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a page page count count divisible by four four to to ll
the spread spread count count because each spread spread is is is is made up of four four pages I I didn’t didn’t know know this I I also didn’t didn’t know know that proo ng ng your your own own work is is is like testing your your own own code Both are bad ideas I I I had a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a few personal aha’s as well
For example I I I learned that that good design cannot be be be rushed I I I I came to to know that that Fed Ex is is is run by human beings who also make mistakes and and forgiveness is is is not nearly as as stressful as as being being angry I I I I took a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a big detour to to to arrive at at at at that that one I I I I I also learned learned a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a lot about how I I I I I communicate (and the the side effects when I I I I don’t) The most important lesson I I I I learned learned was that that there are few things more professionally rewarding than working with a a a a a a a a a a a a a team where everyone is willing to give their best For that reason Connection
has been one one of of the the most gratifying experiences I’ve had working at at at Neudesic Thank you you you George Washington for giving us us your superhuman design skills Because of you you you our second issue
