These discussions are held in the presence of all the parties involved
and it is clear beyond any shadow of doubt that his mother could not
endure this owing to her age, her fragile health and her sensitivity to
the subject. It would take a serious physical and emotional toll on her.
In summary: 1. How ought we to approach a retarded young man’s
practice of masturbation? 2. How can we prevent repeated molestation
of children, so as to protect their physical and emotional wellbeing?

I received another question on this topic, discussion of which sheds
light on the severity of this sin.
ɳ Question
A person suspected of rape and murder is in prison and is likely to
receive a life sentence. The woman who was his victim scratched him
when he assaulted her and blood dripped from his neck onto the
floor. The police have a sample of this blood and a sample of his se-
men. The police claim that the blood type is rare (B positive) and that
the accused has this type of blood. The suspect denies the accusation,
claiming that he is entirely innocent of the crime. He asks that a sam-
ple of his semen be taken to prove his innocence when it is shown
not to match the sample that the police have. This test, a polymerase
chain reaction, is accurate. Is he allowed to emit semen in order to
prove his innocence and avoid serving a harsh prison sentence?
