1. 3 Understand water tank

1.3.1 Discuss water tank materials

The choice of materials depends on the application; where the tank will be located, if it

is indoors or outdoors, above ground or underground, how much water it will need to
hold and what the water will be used for as well as the quality of water required, etc.

Plastic polyethylene tanks are easier to use and last longer than other materials of

construction.

Water Tank materials – selection criteria

When determining the type of water tank to install, consider:

• What ground surface preparation is required
• Whether the vessel can be installed above or below ground

• How easily the material is to repair
• What manufacturer guarantee is available

There are several materials that can be used to manufacture water tanks including :

STAINLESS STEEL
HDPE

POLYETHYLENE
PLASTIC COATED FABRIC
