Austria
Back in the 1980’s the Austrian wine industry suffered some extremely bad publicity when a few of the regions’ wineries were caught red handed using diethylene glycol which is commonly known as anti-freeze! The agent was supposed to give the wines a full body and added sweetness. Fortunately, nowadays there is no sign of any such chemicals in any of their wines. In fact, Austria is now well known for its very high standards and rigorous wine police! Over the past decade Austria is most famous for putting the wonderful Gruner Veltliner on the map.
