  Chile
When we think of Chilean wine, we often think value and, in most circumstances, we’re not wrong. In our opinion Chile does offer some of the best value wines that you can buy but we should never overlook the fact that Chile also produces some really great wines. They are often made in approachable styles with plentiful ripe fruit and soft tannins, which is why they are ever so popular in the UK. The widest planted grape in the country is Merlot, but we are often drawn to the Carménère grape. Much like Malbec, Carménère was originally from Bordeaux but ever since the Phylloxera plague in 1867 the varietal became pretty much extinct in all European vineyards.
