เจ้าหน้าที่:ตามประมวลกฎหมายอาญา บุคคลจะแก้ตัวว่าไม่รู้กฎหมาย เพื่อให้พ้น

จากความรับผิดในทางอาญาไม่ได้ เว้นแต่ศาลเห็นว่าตามสภาพ และ

พฤติการณ์ผู้กระทําผิดอาจไม่รู้ว่ากฎหมายบัญญัติว่าการกระทํานั้นเป็น

ความผิด ศาลอาจอนุญาตให้แสดงพยานหลักฐานต่อศาล และถ้าศาล

เชื่อว่า ผู้กระทําไม่รู้ว่ากฎหมายบัญญัติไว้เช่นนั้น ศาลจะลงโทษน้อยกว่า

ที่กฎหมายกําหนดไว้สําหรับความผิดนั้นเพียงใดก็ได้

Under Thai Penal Code, ignorance of law shall not excuse a

person from criminal liability. But, if the court thinks that the

offender may not have known that such act was illegal, the court

may allow such person to produce evidence to persuade the court,

and if the court believes so, the court may inflict less punishment to

any extent than that provided by the law for such offense.
