The centennial Mass for All Saints Parish took place in 2013 in what
was then the newest church building to open in the Diocese of Rochester.
Yet the March 23 celebration also highlighted many elements of the parish’s past.
The day started with a procession beginning at the site of All Saints’ original church on Old Myers Road. It continued uphill to the church building that served as All Saints’ home from 1933- 2007, then to the parish center that opened in 1995. Finally, the anniversary liturgy took place in the
current church, which has been All Saints’ place of worship since 2007, when it was dedicated
by Bishop Matthew H. Clark. It’s located at
347 Ridge Road (Route 34B), adjacent to
the parish center and former church, and slightly north of Ithaca near Cayuga Lake’s eastern shore.
Whereas All Saints’ new church can seat more than 400 people, its rst church – which opened in 1913 under Father John Doran, pastor –
served only 12 registered Catholic families from the communities of Myers, Ludlowville and Portland Point. In 1933 All Saints’ second church, at the corner of Myers and Ridge roads, was dedicated by Bishop John F. O’Hern.
For most of its history, All Saints was a mission of other nearby parishes. Due to the growth of Catholics in the Lansing area, however, the year 1998 saw All Saints become an
independent parish for the rst time.
All Saints is part of a three-parish cluster in northern Tompkins County that was formed in 2005 along with Holy Cross, Dryden; and
St. Anthony, Groton.
