The History
Originally, the combat

Mexico became new bloody battle
grounds for the Native Americans and
the settlers. As the Manifest Destiny
continued and more white settlers
moved to the Great Plains, a series of
battles occured that became known
as the Sioux Wars. These conflicts
lasted from 1854 until 1890. This time
included the Great Sioux War, which
occurred in 1876-77 due to the
amount of white miners in search of
gold that searched the Sioux hunting
grounds. All of these minors
eventually got the U.S. government
involved and the U.S. army was
tasked with protecting the minors
from the Sioux, in their search for
gold. This War was the last major
conflict between the U.S. and the
Sioux tribe. There was, however,
another conflict that was not as large
unsuccessfully, as he and his battalion were all killed.
