The willow-wren and the bear
A wolf and a bear walk together in the woods, discussing the beautiful singing of the
willow-wren. The wolf told the bear that the bird was the king. The bear insisted on visiting the
palace but when she got there she saw nothing but ordinary baby birds in a nest. After the bear
offending the baby birds, there is a war called between the creatures of the air and the
creatures of the land. The willow wren babies demanded an apology. The birds send in a gnat
to spy on the creatures of the land and learn their battle secrets. This was their weapon. They
managed to trick the fox and win the war. The bear, finally, apologizes to the baby birds.
