The turtle dove song
In this folk song the woman is looking for her fiancé and asks the turtle
dove, which flies in the sky, if she has seen him and the bird answers that he has
been killed.
My white birds
In this song, the singer addresses the birds that fly high in the sky and asks
them to lower and spread their wings to get a feather and write a letter to his
beloved because he is abroad due to the Turkish occupation and he cannot meet
her. He wants to write to his love not to wait for him. He wants to let her know
that his love is great and his misery even greater.

Now the birds
Birds, swallows and partridges howl and shout to the Byzantine border guard to wake
up and hug a slender and young girl, but the guard begs them to let him sleep a little longer
because a night watch and war await him.
