Shomrim’s Editor-in-Chief, Eyal Abrahami,
represented the organization at the Jewish
Culture Festival in Berlin. Participating in a
panel discussion, Abrahami explored the role of
journalism in safeguarding democracy in both
Israel and Germany. The conversation underscored
the shared challenges and responsibilities faced
by journalists in democratic societies navigating
political and social upheavals. Photo by: DIZF / Ruthe Zuntz
Among younger audiences there is a growing sense that
journalism in Israel is at a low point. The public is not receiving
the full, nuanced, and complex picture. Shomrim seeks to change
that—delivering depth and complexity without underestimating
its audience. On a personal level, working at Shomrim has been a
rare opportunity for me—not only to learn and apply the tools of
investigative journalism through personalised mentoring and in-depth
training but also to use them to shed light on the Ultra-Orthodox
community from an insider’s perspective.”
