the cornfields of Iowa. The highway we selected danced along the edge of a storm front. The sun gave us a spectacular light show as it hid behind clouds and then burst forth sending rays of sunshine across the fields, sky, and road. Saturday AM we were up early. After a quick muffin and cup of coffee we headed to the track. We were greeted by a colorful display of Porsches, a few Corvettes, a Caterham, and even a Ford Fiesta ST. After an informative driver’s meeting, the first heat took to the track. McKenna and I took to the pits. I greeted and bumped elbows with everyone I could, thanking them for coming out to a PCA event. I even took McKenna into the Novice Class Room, so she could see some track- teaching in action. Lunchtime rolled around and Joe Chambers, President of Great Plains Region asked us if we wanted to do some parade laps. He did not have to ask McKenna twice, and off we went. We wrapped up our day by thanking everyone running the event. Then with the navigation set to I-29 south, and a DJ playlist set, we headed home. McKenna was asleep only a few miles out of Council Bluffs, IA, and I was left to sing-a-long with Taylor Swift by myself. - Stan Der Sportwagen 13
