And of course, on ANY M96/M97, the first thing you should do is replace the waterpump. This should be a 3-year maintenance item, even on a streetcar. If the fins break off the impeller, they will clog themselves in the coolant passages to the cylinder heads and you WILL eventually crack a head and cause intermix of coolant and oil in the engine. Don’t worry, that is a cheap fix at about
$10k. Preventative maintenance is key here! Replace your pumps!

And of course, for the track we add the 3rd radiator up front for a little extra cooling, along with a low temp thermostat. The 987/997 system is SO much easier to add the 3rd radiator as the quick connect ports are on the side radiators already. Make a couple of quick connections and you are done.
