BOXY TURNS FORTY ON THE WAY TO WORK
Mileage is a funny thing. I’m sure we can all agree that mileage is
a measurement of distance. As Porsche owners, it’s one of the first questions we ask each other, “Nice car. How many miles?” But I would also offer that mileage is a measurement of time.
I bought my Boxy, a ‘99 black
on black Boxster, 3 years ago with barely over 20k miles showing on the odometer. That is very, very low for a 1999 vintage. As of today, she has 40k on the clock. Still very low for a 1999 model. I have doubled the distance, but have had 100% of the time.
the car for double its life. I now know what revs the engine likes on specific corners to and from work. I know the speed to make the wheels squeal on the exit ramp (don’t tell Deborah I typed that). I can reach buttons on the dash without even thinking about it. I have grown to know this car, over time.
