found the fruit. And when I went after the Lord, I found the prosperity
and the success. It is a spiritual thing.
That is why Psalm 1 is such a great Psalm. It introduces you to
the whole book of Psalms, and says God has blessedness. Blessednesses,
plural. For anybody who will delight in the Lord! They will be like a
tree, fruitful in their season, bringing forth, always ever green, no matter
what the conditions of life – verdant. You find someone trusting in the
Lord, and he is singing. It does not matter if he is on a sick bed. It does
not matter if all earthly resources have been blown away. He is
rejoicing. God wants us to sing! Praise God in all things at all times!
He wants us to learn how to be prosperous and how to rejoice and not to
run after all these other things.
I cannot say it better than God did. Oh, the blessednesses. Oh,
the fulnesses, the superlative joy for those who have learned to delight in
the Lord and in the law of the Lord, and to hum day and night and
ruminate and chew these things over and mutter about God’s grace and
mercy and forgiveness and loving kindness and patience. Mull it over.
Think it over. That one is planted by God, and he is planted by rivers.
There is always an infinite supply. You will never run out because God
is your source and supply. You will always be ever green, and in due
season you will be producing fruit. John 15:4-11,
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered;
and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will,
and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye
bear much fruit; and'so'shall ye be my disciples. Even as the Father
hath loved me, I also have loved you: abide ye in my love.
