ADMINISTRATOR’S LETTER
Dearest Team Members,
Happy New Year! 2020! What is your new year’s resolution
this year? What will your next decade look like? There is
certainly a lot in store for us within Johns Hopkins Bayview
Medical Center Imaging – this New Year will consist of new
capital equipment, department renovations, hiring of new staff
and faculty, and more!
To kick off the new year, we are currently 6 months into our
fiscal year of 2020, ending June 30, 2020 and are underway
with 2 renovation projects. As many of you are aware, our
Single Plan Interventional Radiology renovation has begun,
effective November 26th, in which our IR technologists and
nurses are down to utilizing 1 room, our bi-plane room for both
outpatients and inpatients. The teams are excited for their new state of the art Siemens Artis Zee
Single Plane Room. This renovation is expected to last until March 2020.
Nuclear Medicine’s GE SPECT CT renovation started December 10th, in which they will receive a
new Siemens’s SPECT CT, new control room, and new reading room for their radiologists. The
renovation is anticipated to last 12 weeks, concluding late February / early March 2020.
The diagnostic technologists are in the process of finalizing their vendor selection for their new
fluoroscopy and general x-ray room. More details to come as they participate next with on-site
visits within the JHM Radiology enterprise and make big decisions on which vendor they prefer.
Renovations are expected to begin late 2020 or early 2021.
I hope you had noticed the new flooring in our Imaging waiting room that ties nicely with our new
furniture! Big thanks to Kim Scelsi, Shashana Rooks, and Ben Sasser for re-organizing the
furniture to allow for easier access and more comfort for our patients. We have seen the Bivarus
survey results increase drastically in November due to the renovation and re-organization of
furniture. If you have any suggestions on other ways to improve the patient experience within
Imaging, I encourage you to join our Patient Experience Team, email Susan Hann your contact
information to sign up for this monthly 45-60 minute meeting. A great way to view patient
feedback and to share your thoughts on ways to improve the experience!
As I head out on maternity leave this month, I welcome Gian Bonetti, Director of Ambulatory
Services, as the Interim Imaging Administrator. Gian will be supporting the Department of
Imaging in my absence and will be physically located in my office space, should you have any
questions or concerns that you wish to address. Please welcome him as he rounds through
Imaging to meet you and learn about your operations!
Happy New Year and I look forward to see you again in April 2020!
Emily Lee,
Department of Imaging Administrator
