Breastfeeding Employees
New, Private Space for
Breastfeeding employees now have a
new, private location to pump during
work hours. Located in the 5th floor
waiting room of the FSK Pavilion, the
lactation pod features calming artwork, a
hospital-grade breast pump and
refrigerator for milk storage. It also is
equipped with several power outlets,
allowing moms to use their own pump if
they choose to do so.
In addition to the pod, the lactation room on the first floor of the A Building (near
the Carroll Auditorium) is scheduled for renovation. The space will be updated to
include soothing colors and new flooring, cabinetry and furniture. Renovations will
begin soon.
The lactation pod and rooms provide clean environments for employees to express
milk or breastfeed, per hospital policy HR906. Additional lactation rooms are located
in the Asthma & Allergy Center, Mason F. Lord Center Tower and 5500 Lombard.
There are plans to add a room to the Burton Pavilion in the near future.
For security and privacy reasons, the lactation
pod and rooms are only accessible with a valid
employee badge. To gain access, employees
must register with the ID office at 0-3179.
If you are currently a breastfeeding mom and
are in need of support or resources, call the
Johns Hopkins warm line at 2-3221.
