      THE

      SECOND

      WORLD WAR

      BARNSLEY’S #BarnsleyWW2

      STORY 12 OCT – 21 MAR

From 1939 to 1945 Barnsley was deeply affected by the impact of war. The mines provided
fuel, factories made equipment and munitions; people lived with blackouts, air raids and
the rationing of everyday essentials. The people of Barnsley gave up their time, money and
in some cases their lives to support the war effort. This exhibition looks at life across the
borough in wartime, the sacrifices people made and their courage in adversity, through
objects, images and archives reflecting their stories.
