new urbanism and a vision for what Orillia can become.
Joanne has designed Matchedash Lofts to resemble the other historic red-brick buildings still standing in downtown. She was guided by Orillia’s Downtown Tomorrow waterfront revitalization plan, with a focus on creating a healthy lifestyle and community.
“We wanted it to look like two factories that had been transformed into a residential building,” says Geoff. Each of the lofts will feature
large industrial windows,
high ceilings and a spacious floorplan. “Our average unit size is 1,075 square feet and all come with two full bathrooms. This isn’t your typical condo shoe box; we have designed them to have the space and functionality to become a
home in the middle of a vibrant city centre.”
Matchedash Lofts will have a mix of loft-style live/work, garden and lakeview terrace units, as well as commercial and retail space at Mississaga Street, all tailored to add to Orillia’s historic downtown.
While the condos will feature a roof-top terrace and an easy-to-access bike garage, Geoff cautions that you won’t find a theatre room, steam room or gym inside the condo building. “We don’t want to burden condo owners with growing maintenance fees,” he says. “Instead, we’d like to see our condo owners use the city’s amenities outside the walls of Matchedash Lofts, connect with their neighbours and be part of this growing community.”
Matchedash Lofts are already 75 per cent sold and in construction, but there’s still time for buyers to connect with Geoff and catch his vision.
As for the rest of Oakleigh’s property—it will soon
be home to townhomes, restaurants and stores that transform downtown Orillia into a Distillery District
of the North: a walkable
city center full of culture and charm, perfect for city living in lake country.
“We’re invested here in Orillia and we now live here. We have a plan that will make a sizable impact in
our downtown,” says Geoff. “Orillia’s offering a quality
of life that cannot be rivaled for those who’re looking for
a new place to call home.” DS
