“T ile comes in all shapes, sizes,
colours and looks.”
You’ve been dreaming of renovating your home, scouring Pinterest, Houzz and the latest design magazines to envision the possibilities.
But the materials to get you there? For many of us, those are secondary. And yet, the materials you choose will likely last longer than the design itself – or at least they should.
There are many materials
on the market today that are designed to accomplish any look under the sun, which is why Tony Statuto and his daughter Vanessa, owners of Genova Imported Ceramic Tile, always recommend homeowners take a look at tile first.
“Tile comes in all shapes, sizes, colours and looks,” says Tony. “It can look like barnboard,
marble, cement or natural stone and slate, all with realistic textures and tones.”
And although tile can mimic any material, there’s one thing that makes it stand out among the rest: its strength. Porcelain tile is four times stronger than granite. When laid correctly, each tile will easily last a half century or more without fading, scratching or cracking.
Genova Imported Ceramic Tile brings porcelain tile directly from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Brazil and Dubai – the producers of the highest quality tiles found anywhere in the world.
“We source it directly to eliminate the added cost of
hiring a third party to source the materials,” says Tony. “And it allows us to monitor the quality of the products that enter our store.”
Whether your renovation will be done through a contractor or is a small DIY project, Tony suggests using his showroom for consultations, tips and advice.
“If you’re doing this yourself, we help answer your questions, give you steps to follow and even supply you with the right materials to prepare the floor for laying each piece.”
If you’re looking to tile your floors, walls or shower and do not have an installer, Tony and Vanessa can recommend local
installers to do the work for you. “They do not work for us, but we’ve witnessed their work and can attest to their quality.”
For those who have an installer on board, Tony suggests using his showroom as a consultation area to go over options, develop designs and establish pricing.
“Tile lasts forever, so we highly suggest coming in to see it for yourself,” says Tony. “With so much versatility and so little effort to maintain it, this is a material that brings style and durability into every room of the home.” DS
