Our neighbor Bob purchased a portable boat lift
from an inland small lake. Once home, he realized

in his boat well.
Boat Lift During a neighborhood cocktail party, the idea

was “floated” to literally “float” the lift from the
launch ramp to the house ... about 1/3 mile away....
all agreed would be a fun undertaking.
On a calm July evening, a large empty plastic drum, three
truck tire tubes, and an assortment of life jackets were affixed to
the lift. Once in the water, it started to tip, but with a little ad-
justment to the flotation devices, it was flying straight and level.
The lift was towed as slow as possible and made it upright all
the way to the boat well. My money was on “not gonna make
it” ... glad to say I was wrong.
